Chambers’s Miscellaneous Questions: With Answers Embracing Science, Literature, Arts, Etc. (1875)

William Chambers

In the year of 1924, Emalina was born into a poverty-stricken family of ten. She grew up during the time of the Great Depression. Luckily, she and her family survived starvation by moving around from place to place so her father could find work. He worked all day sometimes for a pot of day-old stew and bread so he could feed his family. Learning to live each day had become a gamble for the family. They never knew where they would sleep or live from day to day. Finding a job to earn money was a luxury in these times. After growing up and becoming a beautiful woman, she is caught between the love of two men. Even after surviving the hard times, nothing was as hard as what she endures during her marriage and her love affair.
