The story is about a young man who leaves his small rural town in Canada during the mid-1920s to attend college in Boston. Not having the proper education to be accepted into college, he works as a mechanic and becomes enticed into organized crime. He agrees to transport illegal liquor with the use of a fast boat from Canada to Boston for easy money. His adventurous life intermingles with history during the Roaring Twenties, Prohibition, the stock market crash, the Great Depression and World War II as he tries to elude law enforcement, the Coast Guard and rival gangs. With his abundant earnings, he pursues his dream to help homeless children while trying to create a future with a young Irish woman. As you read of his life, your adventure with the character deepens while you attempt to envision his fate.
