As many service industry employees will tell you, every time they think that they’ve seen it all, someone proves them wrong. From retail clerks, to waitress’ we can all tell you. People, the public we enjoy serving, sometimes have some interesting interpretations of the type of service and rights they are entitled to. Those of us still in this industry enjoy the ever changing and challenging situations. Many seasoned sales people will tell you that buying and selling is an extremely emotional issue. This book will prove it. This book is to be considered an observation of life, and the human emotions that drive it. It is my belief that the vast majority of people are basically good, upstanding and want fairness. Sometimes even the best of us are clueless or less than brilliant at times. It is said that prostitution is the world’s oldest occupation. A good sales person will beg to differ. After all how do you think the deal was made in the first place? To avoid burnout, many of us take these interpretations with a sense of humor and frequently a grain of aspirin. We note the time of day casually scratching our arm so we can see our watch or check it on our computer monitor. Some days closing time can’t come fast enough. Other days have been great and we’ve made everyone happy. Finally beer thirty comes and we can trade stories with others that can relate. The author of this book has spent over thirty seven years doing what it takes in quest of learning the art of selling, as well as the art of survival. Together with his wife Deb, They own a pet shop Aquaria Pets in Hutchinson Minnesota. What could possibly happen there? After all it’s a place of enchantment and wonder. Everyoneloves the soothing qualities of pet’s right? But be forewarned humor is the best defense, and no matter how funny the joke is, someone we promise will be offended. Consider yourself warned now. Steve is many times called politically incorrect. It’s not that he doesn’t care. He does. He really tries. Steve is over forty years old. Call him a fat white guy. He won’t care. His head is covered with gray hair he calls it the badge of courage. His ethnic background is well varied. As far as life goes, he has been around the block and through the mill. Little offends him. Life isn’t perfect. This is the real thing. It isn’t a rehearsal. Go ahead be rude give him a bad time. That’s o.k. He shoots back. Deb watches in disbelief while trying to keep a straight face. Get ready for a trip into the sublime, the ridiculous, and the absurd. Because as silly as it gets. As indignant as they get. No matter how many times they claim they will never shop here again… They keep coming back!
