Belle Dundee is a widow who works as a housekeeper and cook at a large ranch in California, a few miles from the Mexican border. Her life consists only of past memories with nothing to look forward to. This changes in one night when a Mexican baby is left on her doorstep. After much soul searching, she decides to keep the infant. Now she begins a life of deceit as she passes the child as her granddaughter.
