Love's Mistress is a play by Thomas Heywood first performed in 1635. The play is set at the court of Queen Elizabeth I and features a cast of colorful characters, including a lovesick lord, a poet, and a group of actors. The play within a play format of Love's Mistress allows Heywood to comment on the nature of theater and the courtly love tradition of the Renaissance era.
