It’s time that we solve the problem of single mothers being accused of causing all of society’s ills because they do not have the knowledge to raise a boy into manhood. Critics say that a woman may be able to keep a boy out of trouble until he becomes an adult male but she cannot teach him to be a man. The same people who make that allegation often lament over mass incarceration. They love to cite the statistics that says if a boy cannot read at grade level by the 4th grade he is destined for prison. Yet, you never see them teaching any boys to read.

My question to them has always been: If a mother doesn’t have the knowledge necessary to teach a boy to be a man, why won’t you give it to her? A mother is a child’s first teacher. The message she gives to him he will deliver to the world. So why not give her the information she needs?

Mom, this book is for you but it is written to your son to teach him how to be a man, a godly man, husband and father. I recommend that you use this book as a joint learning experience, a family project, in which you and your son take the journey into the knowledge of manhood together.
