It was written and published by William Lazenby, a major figure in the underground world of Victorian erotica publishing. Five volumes were planned but only two were issued. The first volume was published in 1875 with the second appearing in 188o. Volume one was printed in Brussels; volume two in London. The text of this Birchgrove Press edition is based on an 1891 reprint.
