Edith Gelin
The author, Edith Gelin was born along the North Sea coast of the Netherlands. She traces her family tree back through four centuries in Holland, Noord Brabant and Flanders. She left the Netherlands as a young child and has lived in Vancouver, Canada for the past thirty-five years, where she is a graphic designer and illustrator. This book is based on her Dutch background and on her wanderings along the Dutch canals in a 1908 sk tsje named Zonder Zorg. The story was written to introduce her four-year-old granddaughter, Annelies to her family heritage and to hint at the rich history, culture and traditions of the Netherlands. The book is exquisitely illustrated by thirty-six of Edith’s paintings. Besides Annelies, other grandchildren, children and even some latent Dutch adults might also be interested.
