The suicide of Makri, a simple village healer from a seemingly insignificant town near the Keldaran border, sweeps Katerin, a wandering healer with a mysterious past, into the political intrigues of Gods and humans. As Katerin strives to understand why the village of Wickmasa is so important, she uncovers a plan to restore Rekare, the daughter of a deposed leader, to power and unexpectedly discovers things about her own destiny. She also finds a potential ally in Makri’s dangerous twin Metkyi.
