Of all of the males in federal and state prisons, 80 percent do not have a high school diploma. There is a direct correlation with a lack of high school education and incarceration. One in ten male dropouts between the ages of 16 to 24 is either in prison or in juvenile detention. African-American man without his high school diploma will be imprisoned by his mid-thirties. It is further noted that juvenile incarceration decreases the likelihood of high school graduation by 13 percent according to the Hamilton Project. According to the National Institute of Mental suicide is the second leading cause of death for people between the ages of 10 - 24. Teens that take steps to correct, avoid, or prevent problems can make their lives better. Poor choices lead to bad consequences. Good decisions lead to personal, academic, and professional successes. To move from poverty to middle class or middle class to wealth teens must be educated.
