Except for the works of Chaucer, Piers Plowman is the most important literary text produced in medieval England. This collection of original essays was written in honour of David C. Fowler of Washington University. Ten experts deal with a variety of issues raised by the poem, such as: the poem’s textual history; its metre; the major themes and characters; and the manuscript illustrations.
