Theological Commonplaces Gerhard explores three commonplaces. On Original Sin addresses the first sin of Adam and Eve, the terrible results of this sin, and the healing from original sin as merited by Jesus Christ that begins to be applied in Holy Baptism. On Actual Sins, Gerhard examines many categories of sins, showing that even the wrongful desires are truly sins. Finally, On Free Choice speaks to how fallen human beings have some freedom of choice, but not the kind of freedom that turns them towards God. The fallen human freely chooses things that are contrary to God, until the Holy Spirit converts a person to faith in Christ.
