Thermally stimulated luminescence (TSL, also known as thermoluminescence) is a process in which a material emits light while being heated following excitation. Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) is an analogous process in which a material emits light while being subject to optical stimulation. This research text will cover the state-of-the-art theory and applications in thermally and optically stimulated luminescence (TSL and OSL) following irradiation by ionizing radiation.
