This contributed volume is based on a commemorative symposium on floral biology held at the International Botanical Congress in Yokohama in the summer of 1994. This volume consists of papers presented at the Congress, with additional papers to round out the presentation. The papers are prefaced by the first English translation of C K Sprengel’s (1793) introduction to his pioneering work. Recently there has been a great upsurge of interest in plant reproduction, and this volume contains a number of outstanding contributing authors. This book should be of interest to graduates and professionals.
