The Vale of Kashmir

In lush colour, this book celebrates the landscape and the people of Kashmir through spectacular photographs. John Isaac, a previous UN photographer, set out to create a work that would honour both the cultural complexity and the breathtaking beauty of this exotic region. He captures the varied details of daily life: canals crowded with houseboats and floating gardens on the Dal Lake, the ancient city of Srinagar, the harvesting of saffron and Hindu pilgrimages through the mountains.
