Slovakia Since Independence: A Struggle for Democracy
Minton F. Goldman
This study looks at the difficulties and uncertainties of developing a viable democratic society in Slovakia. After reviewing Slovak-Czech relations following the founding of the Czechoslovak Republic in 1918, the author goes on to examine government structure, political behaviour, economic organization and ambition, socio-cultural problems and foreign policy, in particular Slovakia’s relations with the EU, the United States, Russia, and its Central European neighbours.
