Anna is fourteen. She foolishly tries to rescues a zebra foal from a crocodile in Kenya. Her life is saved by a vet in his twenties who thinks she is in her gap year. He takes her on a flight to watch him play rugby. She kisses him after the game, but she then has to return to the UK. Anna develops a passion for rugby and a determination to become a vet. Four years later she comes to Kenya to find him. They travel in an old Landrover, overland through Europe and fall in love but there is a long road before them before they can hope to get married.
