Census 2001: Key Statistics for Urban Areas in England and Wales
NA NA
This report has results for urban areas - towns, cities and major agglomerations - on all topics covered by the 2001 Census in England and Wales. It adds to earlier Census reports that have been framed mainly for Local Authority areas, which do not always fit with natural settlement boundaries. The new analysis gives a comparative picture for all the forms of urban areas that we live in, encompassing cities, towns and smaller settlements. The report provides details for all urban areas with a population larger that 1,500 residents and having an area of at least 20 hectares, enabling comparisons with the 1991 Census. It is available in printed form to include areas and subsections with over 20,000 people. The accompanying CD includes all built up areas and sub areas with over 1,500 people. Map areas provided with the release showing the boundaries of built up areas with at least 1,500 residents. Grid references are provided with each built up area.
