Access and the use of facilities by retired members: 2nd report of session 2014-15
Great Britain: Parliament: House of Lords: House Committee
The privileges afforded to retired members should suitably acknowledge their contribution to the House. This is already the case for retired bishops who are entitled to a photo-identity pass, and may sit on the steps of the Throne, use the Library (though not the research facilities), the Peers’ Guest Room, the Peers’ Dining Room with up to five guests and the Barry Room with up to six guests. The Committee recommends that the privileges already granted to retired bishops should be extended to members who retire under section 1 of the House of Lords Reform Act by giving notice to the Clerk of the Parliaments.
