Twenty years after they first published this case study, the authors reveiw the years of struggle that have moved the Amish even closer to complete control of their schools. This contemporary account details how Amish schools continue to reflect Amish values of stable families, communal obligations, manual labour, and love for others, despite attempts by public school administrators to force Amish children to attend public schools.
