Prokofiev: Romeo and Juliet
I don’t think I have ever seen a more beautiful Romeo and Juliet than this production from the Royal Ballet. Not just in ballet, but film and theatre as well these two were tear-jerking-ly gorgeous. Tamara Rojo looks 16 years old, even on close ups (I had to check her age as her prowress as a dancer is excellent). Carlos Acosta as Romeo moves swiftly from boyish hijinks to a strong and dedicated lover with a sense of the masculine that is to be envied by dancers around the world. The balance of the orchestra is stunning and the costumes and cast equal their star leads.
