It was love at first sight. But it was always love at first sight for me. That's the problem. So when Pete asked me out that first day we met, I had only one option. I asked him to give me six months as my friend before taking things any farther. Pete was more romantic as my non-platonic friend than any of my boyfriends from the past. Even with his hot-and-cold attitude and the fact that we couldn't tell anyone in his office that we were connected, I knew holding out was going to be one of the hardest things I'd ever done.

So much so, that when my buddy jokingly (?) bet me I couldn't bed Lucy before the six months were up, I was more than game. Or so I thought.
