As a self-made makeup artist, LuAnn Mancini built a business and a career from the ground up-and with it, crossed paths with some of the most influential and impactful people of her day. Through this thirty-five-year journey, living and working in Fort Worth, Texas, she serendipitously found herself among the rich and powerful. Her work included meeting and working with Dan Rather and politicians such as George W. Bush, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush, Ross Perot, Lady Bird Johnson, Vladimir Putin, and Mikhail Gorbachev. Her work with celebrities included Gretchen Carlson, Andrew Llyod Webber, Van Cliburn, Joan Rivers, and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. She was behind the scenes and witnessed history in the making during the student protests in Tiananmen Square; the Oklahoma City bombing; the Columbine shooting; the Discovery Launch with John Glenn; the death of James Byrd Jr. in Jasper, Texas; Hurricane Georges; and World Youth Day. Her work settings included Air Force I, CBS News, Cape Canaveral, Tiananmen Square, Moscow, and the jail cell of Jasper, Texas. Throughout this time, she perfected the LuAnn Mancini line of cosmetics, created the LuAnn Mancini Studio dealing almost exclusively in makeup, and crafted one of the first airbrushes in the cosmetics industry.
