Effectology(R) is a philosophical concept developed by Ion Grumeza that examines the dynamics of accidents and their effects. Even minor accidents and incidental occurrences can have unexpected effects, resulting in enormous consequences. Consider the following examples:
-In 1920, King Alexander's pet ape, Moritz, fought with Fritz, his pet dog. As the Greek king was breaking up the fight, Moritz bit him, and he soon died of septicemia. Therefore, Moritz and Fritz decided the fate of Constantinople. It would belong to the Turks after the king died, and the Greeks never waged war to reclaim their ancient city.
-Medieval alchemists' vain search for gold led to accidental discoveries, giving us today's table of elements.
-After forgetting his culture of staphylococci, Alexander Fleming found mold growing on it. This led to his discovery of Penicillium notatum.
This book deals with human relations, society, politics, business, war, the arts, health and more. By reading Effectology, you will gain insight into the significance of accidents and their effects.
