One summer I lived in a house in the center of a busy city, with a messy back yard. There were highways and heavy traffic surrounding the neighborhood. It was noisy. I wasn't happy because I love living with nature. The silence and sound of birds brings great joy to my heart. So, I decided to bring nature to me. I set up a small bird feeder and got to know all the birds that visited. I became an active observer of their lives, deaths, fears and joys. The summer of my little bird feeder helped me become the naturalist observer I am today.
This is the story of how my backyard became a mini native bird sanctuary, how I became a naturalist, and how you too can do it, even if you live in the middle of a noisy city.
