A chance encounter with a siren sends August into the deep end of a very big lake. Will plumbing its depths reveal a world-changing discovery or send him to a watery grave?

August Shade needs a break. Reptilians are trying to take over the world. Powerful paranormals are a little too interested in whether he lives or dies. After years of laying low, the grumpy shapeshifter's face is all over the internet. If that wasn't bad enough, August's best friend is playing around with necromancy. Desperate to clear his head, the cranky shapeshifter heads north to the shores of Lake Superior. Now he's drowning in lake monsters, paranormal prophecies, and reptilian plots. A drink would help, but the only bar in town is a karaoke bar.

Oliver Corbyn needs his karaoke machine. The folks of Knife River are miserable without it. Someone-or something-has been snatching people away in the night. Without that karaoke machine, there won't be any joy left to hold back the dark. When August takes the case, it's not because he wants to. It's because he has to. He did hear that siren sing, afterall.

Lana Delridge needs vindication. The young scientist was on the verge of a major discovery when her mentor and would-be lover sabotaged her work. Desperate to reclaim the find of the century, she hires August to repo her equipment. Lana's ex is a pretentious twit, so August is more than happy to help. However, getting her stuff back means helping her discover something far below Lake Superior's surface. Something that could drag the poor shapeshifter back to the terrors of his past.

For a guy that's tried to not make waves, life is getting pretty choppy. It's sink or swim for the poor repo man. If he's going down, though, August will make sure he goes down singing.
