In the distant future following the strained relations of humans inhabiting multiple planets in multiple galaxies, the explorer spaceship O7 finds itself further flung than humans have yet to venture: D7. Therein they encounter six other alien species, all mingling around the Mother Toroidal Donut. Surviving this encounter turns out to be far simpler than getting back home.
