Clarksdale, Mississippi, "The Home of the Blues," sits just 60 miles south of Memphis, Tennessee. Ironically, although Clarksdale has a history tied to less than Christian ideals, it's where many others and I got our Christian roots or upbringing. Just like the blues were played all over the place, so were the gospel songs that I helped sing in the youth church choir. That balance has always allowed me to remain stable through various traumas that we discuss or not. I learned that we all suffer, all who live, all who walk, talk, and breathe on this planet called Earth.
