Owen’s Adventures

Partners in adventure, Owen and Neilla are the best of friends, spending each day in joyful play. Their imaginations take them to the exotic destinations that they learn about through Neilla's books, from mysterious jungles, to soaring mountains, and beyond. But when Neilla becomes ill, she no longer has the energy for play. As she prepares for her hospital stay, she gives Owen a special gift, and a charge to experience the wonders of the world for her. Owen is devastated when his friend must go away, for he has always had Neilla at his side for every challenge and discovery, but his love for Neilla is stronger than his fear and sadness. Gathering all his fortitude, Owen embarks on a journey to the Galapagos Islands in his quest to bring healing and hope to her. Making friends with every new discovery, Owen learns about endemic species and the challenges they encounter in this unique habitat. He must overcome his fears to experience all that the island offers, and in doing so he gains the trust and friendship of the animals of the island of Isabella. As you join the adventure, you will learn new words (Owen and Neilla are really into Latin roots) and facts about amazing animals-- and you will be reminded of the power of friendship, love, and curiosity to bring joy and strength in difficult times.
