This is the story of Wangui, a young girl whose adventure starts in a canoe on the dangerous dragon-filled lake near her village. Unable to escape from the canoe she drifts until she reaches a small island. Here she meets an ill old lady and her sympathy for the woman causes her to embark on a dangerous journey to find a special medicine. On the journey Wangui is given a magic stick by Magic Boy and is captured by greedy giants that want to eat her. She finally returns with the medicine, cures the old lady and returns to a huge welcome in her village.
