Up until recently, parents had the support of extended families to help them raise their children. However, a lot of children these days only have resources available to them from their primary caregivers of a nuclear family. Before the advent of technology, it used to be a part of most families’ lifestyles to have both an indoor and outdoor space for children to play in. Children are becoming addicted to gadgets, and as a result, are becoming increasingly introverted. They enjoy indoor or outdoor activities less and less. With increasing screen time, a child’s mind and eyes get tired faster, leading to restlessness and crankiness, which kills cognitive, imaginative, and rational thinking. In my opinion, many of the activities found in this book are fulfilling and nourishing for a child, and encourage them to be off of gadgets and enjoy the simple things in life for a considerable amount of time.
