The Gospels announce, the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God (Mk 1,1). Jesus’ birth itself is good news of great joy to all the people (Lk 2,10-11). The central message of Jesus’ preaching, teaching and healing is the arrival of the reign of God (Mt 9,35; 11,5). God has sent Jesus to bring good news to the poor… to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind and liberty to the oppressed (Lk 4,18). I have come, says Jesus, that they may have life and have it abundantly (Jn 10,10). He reveals himself: I am the resurrection and the life (11, 25); I am the path, the truth and the life (14,6). In short, Jesus Christ in the Gospels is the Good News for all.
