The aim of this study is to highlight the academic performance of the scholarship holders of the Tutorial Education Program PET Conexoes de Saberes in the dimensions of teaching - research - extension. Social, economic and political factors make the access and permanence of young people who have some kind of social fragility in Higher Education Institutions complex, to say the least. The paper begins by showing the existing discussion in the academic sphere regarding the creation of affirmative action public policies to encourage undergraduates to stay in universities, and then presents the results obtained from the bibliographical research and the pilot questionnaire, according to the type of qualitative research and action research. The data was collected on the campuses of the Federal University of Pernambuco, located in the cities of Recife, Caruaru and Vitoria, with members of the five PETs Conexoes de Saberes (Knowledge Connections) that exist at the institution.
