Orthodox canon law in a short time has been translated into Russian, German, Modern Greek and Bulgarian. This work was unique for its time because it was the first book in which the most fully and systematically setting out the laws in force as in the whole of the Orthodox Church, and in the autocephalous churches. His task the author has seen show the origin and development of ecclesiastical law, specify its immutable foundation to establish how canon law may change under the influence of historical patterns, depending on the characteristics of particular regions. The book consists of five broad divisions. They are devoted to the sources of canon law, the church of the device, its management and regulation of everyday life, the relationship between church and state.
