The Volume III of the series Iranica Graeca Vetustiora deals with Iranian names or names presumably of Iranian origin that can be found in the fragments (including excerpts and quotations) of the oeuvre of the physician and historiographer Ctesias of Cnidus, in particular from his Persika. It is thus a preliminary work for the Iranisches Personennamenbuch which will be published by the Austrian Academy of Sciences (Volume V, Fascicle 5a: Iranische Namen in der griechischen Literatur vor Alexander d. Gr.). As in the previous volumes of this series, the main focus is an onomastic discussion of the 122 Iranian names and disregards problems of the sources or of the prosopography of the individual persons.
