This is an exploration of how expressive arts, through a shadow puppet play, enhances resilience in the life of a parent of a child with disabilities. It is personal and passionate, with research that delves into the historical models of disability and the emergence of the social model of disabilities as a way of painting a picture of the world that remains hidden in the shadows. Beginning as a solitary inquiry of the art of story this research intermodally evolved into a shadow puppet play that transformed into a collaborative piece with family as co-creators. This was an unexpected journey, not always traveled with ease, but with tender and touching beauty.
