In Mitwirkung mit der neuen Ausgabe in der Bibliotheca Teubneriana - der Progymnasmata von Severos von Alexandreia - befasst sich das Buch mit einem der interessantesten Rhetoren der spatantiken Literatur. Es handelt sich dabei um einen Parallelband zum BT-Text, in dem die erste UEbersetzung in einer modernen Sprache des Corpus von Severus, eine Studie uber die Biographie des Autors, eine vollstandige und detaillierte Analyse der stilistischen, sprachlichen und rhetorischen Komponenten fur jedes Progymnasma und schliesslich einen philologischen Kommentar erfasst sind. Insbesondere hinsichtlich der noch nicht besprochenen Biographie von Severus wird zum allerersten Mal eine Identifizierung desselben mit dem bekannteren Severus, dem Patriarchen von Antiocheia, vorgeschlagen.
