For as long as she can remember, Amanda Jo Ketchings dreams of a successful career as a fashion designer in New York City. On a scale of one to ten, chances of seeing her dream come true rings in on a big fat zero. The same odds hold true for her chance of snagging a date to the prom. Or next week’s basketball game. Heck, even if she offers to pay for the year’s biggest blockbuster movie, chances are she would watch it alone. Amanda Jo’s dad owns the local funeral home. Her mom is the least sophisticated person in the Universe and, on top of that, Amanda Jo inherited her mom’s frizzy hair and thunder thighs. How fair is that? With zero friends, Amanda Jo spends a lot of time alone until Elle moves to town and that is when everything skids downhill fast!
