My father was a remarkable man: physician, war hero, devoted husband, father, and friend. Two of his greatest attributes were complete honesty and an extraordinary ability to think deeply. All his life he was a voracious reader and a prolific writer. Shortly before he died in 2007, he asked me to compile and publish selections from his writings. This book captures his unique spirit.
