I walked over a footbridge of a canal close to my neighborhood. Under the bridge was a long canal used to keep rainwater from flooding the walkways. At times, I would stop on the bridge and look over into the ravine. I would often see turtles climbing on the rocks. Then off they would go, into the shallow water just off the muddy bank. One day, construction workers began cleaning out the canal. They were preparing to tear down the footbridge and expand it. I wondered how all of the work would impact the turtles. When I asked a worker, no one seemed to notice must less to care for the lives of those creatures.I kept imagining what the turtles must be thinking. I wondered how the workers would feel if, one day, they woke up in the body and shell of a turtle. How would they survive as helpless creatures, surrounded by machinery, and forced out of their homes?Join me on a journey through A Turtle's Tale, where my imaginings come to life, bridging the gap between creatures in our beautiful world.
