Summer's Day is a heartfelt, inspirational tribute to my father's literary legacy. Growing up in a dysfunctional, poor family in Duluth, Minnesota, my father was blessed with the ability to recount endless stories and anecdotes with humor and charm. His mother died when he was only three. An alcoholic father abandoned his 5 children to be raised by a tough as nails Gram and a one-eyed, alcoholic uncle they nicknamed Uncle Slug. Against the odds, he managed to get a boxing scholarship when collegiate boxing was at its height before a death in the ring changed that forever. Dad chronicled his unique stories in journals and other writings throughout the years. Everyone has stories to tell, but not everyone can relive them with a gift of storytelling that has you craving to hear more. This book honors my father with sincerity and reverence showcasing the enduring power of love and family. It is a glimpse into my father's life honoring him as an extraordinary ordinary man.
