This book traces the development of Bray and Enniskerry since 1606, when the towns became the most northerly towns in the new shirred county of Wicklow. It looks at the social, economic history of the area, particularly the impact of the railway and the growth of tourism on the seaside Bray. It also covers the history of the Powerscourt estate, the home of the Wingfield family and, the Killruddery estate of the Earls of Meath as well as recording the influence of Bray and Enniskerry’s many famous sons and daughters, including Terry Wogan, James Joyce, Katie Taylor and Cearbhall O'Dalaigh. AUTHOR: Brian White is the chair of Bray Cualann Historical Society and histical advisor to Bray Municipal District and Wiclow Council. He has a diploma n Local History Studies and is the author of the County Wicklow Database 432- 2006. He has regularly contributed to Bray People, Wicklow Voice and the North Wicklow Times as well as East Coast Radio. SELLING POINTS:
