Bob McCulloch passed his topographical test in January 1979.

He started driving in City Cabs when he purchased a cab and plate with the radio call sign V36.

He became involved with the Edinburgh Taxi Trade Children’s outing, including a four year stint as treasurer.

For many years he contributed articles to Taxi Talk magazine.

Author of two books My Fare City and A Good Night Out, he is also the compiler and publisher of Thompsons Street Directory, known as the ‘Taxi Drivers Bible.’

He qualified as a City tour guide in 1984 receiving many five star reviews.

He organized classes for potential tour guides under the auspices of the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers of which he became a member in 2005, gaining the Freedom of the City of London in 2006, the first Scottish taxi driver to do so. He became a Burgess of the City of Edinburgh in 2019 and joined the Incorporation of Baxters.

After retiring as a cabbie, he continued as a tutor at the Kerlin Taxi School, a position he has held for over twenty years, and where he passes on his knowledge to potential taxi drivers.
