Xing Yi is a very old fighting art from China, whose techniques are based around the use of the spear. The spear being one of the primary weapons of choice for use upon the battlefield in ancient China. The overarching strategy of Xing Yi relies upon embodying the fighting strategy or 'essence' of different animals. All of which were studied and chosen by the Xing Yi masters of the past, due to their unique and effective fighting abilities.
This book which was called 'Xing Yi Snake', is a study on the fighting strategy of this ancient reptile, of which two types are included within the art of Xing Yi. These being the viper and the constrictor, which have very different approaches to hunting and dispatching prey.
Within a fighting context, they provide the Xing Yi practitioner with two very different but complementary combat strategies.
