A Whisper in the Shadows

After two years of peace, darkness has fallen on Adhiren. Malik has created new servants, The Shadow Walkers, who feed on the fears and deepest desires of their victims. They move through walls and visit members of Aric's Army nightly. Malik plans to use the Shadow Walkers to take all of Aric's people as his slaves, in order to prove his power as the one true king. Meanwhile, thirteen-year-old Vanessa is facing her own monsters. She feels guilt and anxiety over the people she failed to save from Malik's wrath. She wants to be happy and confident while helping her father train a new soldier, but fears young Arimay will see through the facade and realize what a failure she actually is.

Can Vanessa stay true to herself, her family, and her friends while uncertainty looms at every turn? Will she be able to trust King Aric's plan to defeat the Shadow Walkers even when it doesn't make any sense to her?
