This research is an exploration of the process and contributing factors in student decisions related to selecting a major. A survey questionnaire was created to gain a deeper understanding of the factors students consider to make this determination, and how strongly each affects the area of study they pursue. This research was inspired by concern over the decline in accounting majors at Meredith College. Therefore, the secondary objective of the study is to understand why more students are not choosing to pursue a degree in accounting, and what, if anything can be done to reverse this trend.
