Waking up on a North Carolina beach, Royce Satterlee is not sure whether or not he is dreaming. He is spotted by his friend, Loostah and now knows it is not a dream. When Blackbeard’s ship, Queen Anne’s Revenge is put on the auction block it is a mystery how a couple of illiterates living out of a cave can produce the fifty pounds to purchase it. Royce marries the mother of his son and they settle on a coastal farm. Royce kills a bear that is attacking his wife and becomes a folk hero of sorts, known for his buckskin attire and trademark sturdy knife. In 1738 Royce moves his family to Georgia to become part of Ogle Thorpe’s new colony. Recalling life in the poor house as a child in London and envying the mansions he saw there, he decided to duplicate what he remembered at Savannah. Royce is buried at a little family cemetery just down the lane from his beloved Brierwood mansion.
