The colt is first mentioned in the Old Testament, Zechariah 9:9. In the New Testament, each gospel writer tells the story of Jesus’ arrival into Jerusalem. All four wrote that Jesus, in fulfilling scriptures, rode on the back of an ass colt. The interesting aspect was that it had never before been ridden.
