Foreign Policy of the United States: Volume 6

Democracy promotion has been a long-standing element of U.S. foreign policy. Under the Bush Administration, efforts to spread freedom to Iraq and around the world have been viewed as a tool to end tyranny and as a mechanism to increase prosperity in poor countries. This book examines the many elements of foreign policy including topics such as: the foreign aid policy and reform since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001; international science and technology co-operation and the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) current international activities; and the issues and options relating to the Strategic Arms Control Treaty with the Soviet Union, among others.
