THis book is an encouragement to find the blessings in autism.

When you read Isaiah 53:3 He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem, does that describe Jesus or a child with autism? Mary D. Wasson believes it describes both; hence, proving that children with autism are made in the image of Christ.

In this journey alongside her son, who has autism, Christ opens her eyes to the beautiful character qualities that children with autism display and live every day. It may take years to uncover these beautiful character qualities, but she wants to encourage other families to marvel at the beauty and uniqueness of every child with autism. In time, tears of sorrow will turn into tears of joy. May you celebrate in hearing your child say, I am fearfully and wonderfully made, your works are wonderful, I know that full well (Psalm 139:14).

Before I formed you, I knew you, before you were born I set you apart (Jeremiah 1:5).

About the Author: After a long career working for a Fortune 500 company, God breathed the gift of writing into Mary’s life. She published an inspirational poetry book, Potter’s Hand Poetry, while working on a biography, Spared from the Abuser’s Hands, a Journey of Hope–an inspiring story about her Guatemalan mother as a poverty-stricken child with a basket full of dreams to live in America, to an abused wife and mother who was spared so she could fulfill her purpose, founding a mission in Guatemala. Mary is passionate about sharing her personal journey alongside her son with autism. Mary resides in north Mississippi with her husband, Mark, and their children, Ethan and Mia Faith. Mary and her family are actively involved in mission work at the Santa Fe Mission in Guatemala, Central America, the mission her mother founded over twenty-five years ago.
